Ordinary Least Squares

Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) is a method for estimating unknown quantities in a linear regression model (y=ax+b). The model is constructed by minimising the sum of squares of sample residuals from a linear approximation (best fit straight line through a set of xy-data), resulting in regression coefficients (a & b).
