Gnosys is working with a number of partners, collaborating on a ground-breaking project to further develop a new generation of polymer blend-based power cables as an alternative to cross-linked polyethylene. This follows a successful Innovate UK-funded project led by GnoSys Global and the University of Southampton called SUSCABLE.
This new cable technology will provide power cables having a greater current and thermal rating capability, helping them to meet the growing demands for reliable connections that can deal with variable current load peaks - ideal for new Smart Grids and offshore renewables power networks.
Partners involved in further developing SUSCABLE include National Grid, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and Scottish Power as users, leading European Cable producers and the University of Southampton and Gnosys Global as research providers.
